SANDALIONTel. +39 0784403298 The traditional costume of Orgosolo is unmistakable and one of the most famous of Sardinia. Its origin comes from the ancient times.
Until the early last century, the whole population wore it, now it is exhibithed during the main holidays and in the important ceremonies (weddings, baptisms, popular shows).
Three superimposed petticoats made of orbace and silk (sar
vestes), of green and dark red colours, the silk blouse richly worked, the little jacket with silk embroidery (su zippone) the yellow silk veil (su lionzu) wich hides and on the same time evidences the face,
and the wonderful stole interwoven with stylized floral motifs of vivid colours, (s’antalena), are an irrestible attraction to see, when they are shown in all their beauty. Still nowadays some women work the orbace, the silk and the brocades required for the realization of the costume that is an handicraft product, jealously preserved for its great commercial and affective value.
