Panorama

To the south, the Supramonte is a natural reserve where boars, mouflons, eagles, and many other wild animals can be met, the territory is also rich of archaeological sites as nuraghi, tombs of giants, sacred areas etc.

The "murales" have perhaps become, during the years, the main atractive. It all started as a form of political protest back in 1969, each painting represents its own story from local happenings to facts of world interest as, for instance, the Vietnam war or the Tien an men facts although nowadays the latest paintings are just artistic expressions.

In Orgosolo was born Antonia Mesina, martyr of purity, who was murdered for having defended her virginity. She was beatified in 1987 by Pope John Paul II. Her mortal remains rest in the crypt into the church wich is visited every year by numerous pilgrims.
